Chris is a practising psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). He adheres to the ethical and professional standards set by the Australian Psychological Society and the Psychologists Registration Board, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care in his practice as a psychologist in a clinical setting.
Therapeutic Approach
Chris’ therapeutic approach centres around curiosity, open-mindedness, and authenticity, and focuses on the psychological roots of a person’s suffering. For some individuals this will involve examining early life events and recurrent behavioural patterns with an emphasis on self-exploration and self-discovery.
Chris adopts an integrative and flexible approach, tailored to the individual needs of each client. He is experienced in a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness-based approaches.
Chris has a particular interest in trauma recovery and in the role of unconscious processes and early life experiences in shaping ones’ internal working models and influencing present-day thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and provides specialised support as an EMDR psychologist Melbourne.
Experience & Interests
Chris works with adults aged 18+, with experience spanning a variety of public and private mental health settings. His warm and approachable manner has supported individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, providing a space for humour, self-expression, and meaningful exploration.
Before becoming a registered psychologist, Chris spent over 15 years in financial markets and funds management. His own career transition sparked a deep interest in helping individuals explore their values, particularly in relation to existential themes such as personal identity and the search for meaning, with an emphasis on living in alignment with one’s own values. He finds his personal experiences and professional interests have allowed him to genuinely understand individual’s navigating significant life changes. This includes career transition and retirement, relocation to a new country, and a range of other major life adjustments.
In addition, Chris played AFL reserves and VFL football, competing at a semi-professional level for nearly a decade, while also coaching and mentoring players. Chris’ experience in high-level competitive sport has shaped his interest in sports psychology, particularly in relation to performance anxiety. Chris draws on his background to inform his therapeutic approach, particularly when supporting individuals managing stress, balancing high-pressure roles, and navigating the psychological demands of performance-based environments.
