Employee Assistance Program for a Healthier, Happier Workplace

Confidential EAP counselling with AHPRA-registered psychologists — helping your employees manage workplace stress, personal challenges, and life’s difficult moments, so they can feel supported at work and beyond.

How Workplace Challenges Affect Your People

Work and personal life are deeply connected. Financial pressure, relationship strain, grief and loss, anxiety, or sleep difficulties rarely stay at home — they follow employees into meetings, deadlines, and team relationships. Left unsupported, these challenges show up as absenteeism, disengagement, conflict, and burnout.

An Employee Assistance Program gives your team a confidential, professional space to work through these challenges early — before they escalate. Our EAP counselling in Melbourne provides personalised, evidence-based support delivered exclusively by registered psychologists.

Understanding EAP

What is an Employee Assistance Program?

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential, employer-funded counselling service that supports employees — and often their immediate family members — with personal and work-related challenges. Sessions are free for the employee, provided by qualified mental health professionals, and nothing discussed is shared with the employer.

Under Australian work health and safety laws, employers are expected to identify and manage psychosocial hazards such as stress, burnout, and workplace conflict. An EAP is one of the most practical, proactive ways to meet that obligation — while showing your team that their wellbeing genuinely matters.

What We Support

What Can Employees Use EAP Counselling For?

EAP sessions provide short-term, solution-focused psychological support across a broad range of concerns — whether they begin at work or at home.

What To Look For

When Workplace Stress Becomes Something More

Workplace stress doesn’t always look like a crisis. Often it builds quietly — and by the time it’s visible, performance, relationships, and health are already affected. Understanding the signs helps employees seek support early, and helps managers know when to point someone toward the EAP.

Simple to Set Up

How Our EAP Works — 4 Simple Steps

1

Employer Purchases a Package

Your organisation emails info@positivewellbeingpsychology.com.au with “EAP Package Enquiry” or submits the form below. Choose a pre-paid package of 3, 6, or 10 sessions — assigned to a specific employee, or available as a shared pool your team can draw on.

No setup fees, retainers, or contracts
2

Employee Makes a Confidential Enquiry

The employee completes our secure online enquiry in their own time. This step is entirely confidential — the employer arranges the funding, but never sees who books, when, or why. Submit your confidential enquiry here →

100% confidential
3

Matched With the Right Psychologist

We match each employee with the AHPRA-registered psychologist best suited to their needs and preferences, with appointments available in person in Armadale or via telehealth anywhere in Australia.

In person or telehealth Australia-wide
4

Ongoing, Consistent Support

The employee sees the same psychologist for every session within the package. Sessions remain valid for 12 months. If longer-term support is needed, you can fund additional sessions — or if this is not desired, we help them transition seamlessly, often to a Medicare-rebated pathway with the same psychologist, so the therapeutic relationship never has to restart. That way, they can continue with the psychologist they have established a therapeutic relationship with under their own funding with a Medicare rebate.

Sessions valid for 12 months

The Business Case

Why Employers Invest in EAP Support

Poor mental health carries a significant cost for Australian businesses through absenteeism, presenteeism, and turnover — and under model WHS laws, managing psychosocial hazards is now a legal expectation, not just good practice. An EAP is a modest, fixed investment that gives employees a professional support pathway, helps issues get addressed early, and signals a workplace culture where people are genuinely valued. For small and medium businesses in particular, a pre-paid package model means you support your team without paying annual retainers for a service that may go unused.

FAQ

Common Questions About Our Employee Assistance Program

What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential counselling service funded by an employer to support employees with personal and work-related challenges. At Positive Wellbeing Psychology, EAP sessions are delivered by AHPRA-registered psychologists, in person in Armadale, Melbourne or via telehealth Australia-wide.

Is EAP counselling confidential?

Yes — EAP counselling is completely confidential. Your employer funds the sessions but never receives information about what you discuss, and our psychologists are bound by AHPRA professional and ethical standards as well as Australian privacy law. Nothing is shared without your written consent.

How does the EAP work for employers?

Employers purchase a pre-paid package of 3, 5, or 10 counselling sessions, which can be assigned to one employee or shared across your team. There are no setup fees, annual retainers, or lock-in contracts. Simply email info@positivewellbeingpsychology.com.au with “EAP Package Enquiry” or submit an enquiry below.

How much does an EAP cost?

Our EAP uses a simple pre-paid package model — you pay only for the sessions you purchase, with no registration fees or annual contracts. Email info@positivewellbeingpsychology.com.au with “EAP Package Enquiry” in the subject line for current package pricing, and our team will respond promptly.

How many EAP sessions do employees receive?

This varies, but many people begin to notice meaningful change within 8 to 12 sessions. Treatment length depends on the complexity of the presentation and whether other conditions, like depression, are also present.

Who can use the EAP? Can family members access it?

Employees of participating organisations can access the EAP, and immediate family members may also be supported depending on how the employer structures the package. Ask us when arranging your package if you’d like family access included.

What issues can EAP counselling help with?

EAP counselling supports a wide range of concerns including workplace stress, burnout, conflict, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, sleep problems, career transitions, and time management.

Are sessions available online, after hours, or interstate?

Yes. Sessions are available via secure telehealth anywhere in Australia, or in person at our Armadale clinic in Melbourne, with after-hours and weekend appointments available.

Who delivers the counselling — psychologists or counsellors?

All EAP sessions at Positive Wellbeing Psychology are delivered by AHPRA-registered psychologists. Where an employee’s needs are more complex, we can also offer integrated psychiatry support — something few EAP providers can arrange in-house.

How quickly can an employee be seen?

Once a package is in place, employees simply submit a confidential online enquiry and we match them with a suitable psychologist promptly, prioritising appointment times that work around their commitments — including after hours.

How long is an EAP package valid?

EAP packages are valid for 12 months from purchase, so employees can schedule sessions when they genuinely need them rather than rushing to use them.

What happens when EAP sessions run out?

Support doesn’t have to end. Employees can continue with the same psychologist privately or, where eligible, through Medicare rebates with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan — meaning no starting over with a new provider.

Can employees choose or change their psychologist?

Yes. When an employee submits their enquiry, we match them with the psychologist who best suits their needs and preferences. If the fit doesn’t feel right, we’ll happily arrange a change — the therapeutic relationship matters.

Do you provide EAP for small businesses?

Absolutely. Because our packages are pre-paid with no annual retainer or minimum headcount, the model suits small and medium businesses that want to offer genuine support without enterprise-level contracts.
