Isaleyarna adopts a goal-oriented approach within therapy, working collaboratively with individuals to set specific goals. She also emphasises the importance of teamwork in therapy, often involving other significant parties in the individual’s life to ensure alignment of goals across all areas.

 

As a psychologist in clinical practice, Isaleyarna embraces neurodiversity as a natural variation in the human brain. She adopts a neurodiversity-affirming approach and has a special interest in supporting individuals with ADHD and autism.

Isaleyarna has a special interest in sports psychology and performance anxiety, stemming from her professional tennis career where she represented Western Australia. Isaleyarna has been invited to speak at sports centres, focusing on the importance of mindfulness during sports.

More recently, Isaleyarna has completed further training to provide support for adults with ADHD, including providing best practice assessments and interventions. Isaleyarna has a deep interest in helping individuals to manage life changes and emotion regulation, having also experience in coordinating group programs centred around mindfulness, emotion regulation, and anxiety management.

Isaleyarna‘a therapeutic approach draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), as well as Short-term and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Isaleyarna is experienced in supporting individuals under the NDIS, utilising evidence-based practices for capacity building and improving daily function. With extensive experience in working with both children and adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities, as well as individuals presenting with co-diagnoses within the disability sector.

Personal Interests

In her spare time, Isaleyarna loves to travel and aims to visit a new country whenever she can. She also played professional sports when she was younger, giving her firsthand experience of the challenges athletes face and the impact it can have on mental health and well-being

 

Isaleyarna is a valuable member of the team at Positive Wellbeing Psychology, delivering psychological support to clients all across Australia, both rural and metro, Online via video or phone consultations (also known as telehealth).

Personal Strengths and Passions

As touched on above, Isaleyarna comes from a tennis background, dedicating over 10 years to training and playing from the age of 5 to 18. She represented Western Australia in tennis and played professionally, including training in France. The high-performance environment, combined with Isaleyarna’s coaching experiences, helped her develop a solid understanding of the mental skills necessary to perform at one’s best.

 

From Isaleyarna’s competitive sports background, she has developed an extensive understanding of managing anxiety and regulating emotions within high-pressure situations, allowing her to form a genuine connection with clients under extreme stress. Isaleyarna has been found to effectively provide empathetic and specialised support in anxiety management and emotion regulation for individuals across the lifespan.

 

Drawing from her unique background in competitive sports, Isaleyarna genuinely understands the impact of extreme stress and managing burnout. She helps to empower individuals to build their own mental resilience and to manage a range of life’s challenges.
